wolmerica With injuries brewing in Memphis, the Showboats have brought in a new face. Linebacker Terrill Hanks has signed with the team, as Jeff McCulloch was moved to the injured reserve list.

Terrill Hanks Jr.
Hanks joins the Showboats as someone with plenty of spring football experience. He was part of the Birmingham Stallions 2022 Championship team, totaling 13 tackles that year. Injuries derailed his season there, though, and he was released in early 2023.

From there, Hanks ended up with the San Antonio Brahmas. Terrill made two tackles during the 2023 XFL campaign, but was ultimately let go from the Brahmas as well.
Terrill Hanks went undrafted out of college, having been picked up by the Miami Dolphins as an UDFA in 2019. He signed a futures deal in late 2019, but got cut by Miami in April of 2020.

Hanks had an unbelievable career in college. With the New Mexico State Aggies, he totaled 391 career tackles, 43 TFL’s, 11 sacks, three fumble recoveries, seven forced fumbles, and eight interceptions. Terrill clearly has plenty of talent. At 28 years old, he’s looking to make another run at professional success to springboard himself back to the NFL.

The Memphis Showboats placed EDGE Jeff McCulloch on injured reserve, per Head Coach John DeFilippo.

It’s unfortunate to see Jeff McCulloch have his season cut short in Memphis. He was hardly utilized this year, only playing in the past two games. McCulloch went down early against Birmingham, suffering a rotator cuff injury.
In 2024, Jeff finished with three tackles and a TFL. His production was down from a season ago, where he had 21 tackles and three sacks.
Final Thoughts
The Memphis Showboats are in need of some serious changes in their organization. The team is 1-5, having lost five straight. It feels like the talent is there, but the execution simply is not. They’ve been blown out in almost every single loss as of late.
It’s been frustrating for Memphis, as General Manager Dennis Polian – along with Head Coach John DeFilippo – did put together what looked like a complete team on paper.
With the 0-6 Arlington Renegades on tap for this week, Memphis will have to hope that they can get back on track.
